Feast of Assumption in Chinatown, New York

Chinese Catholics carry statue of Mary in 15th annual Our Lady of the Assumption Procession, sponsored Aug. 9 by Transfiguration parish in Chinatown. Event includes floats, lion dancers, children in costume, Scripture, prayer, hymns and Rosary recitation. Marchers stopped at five Lower East Side churches—St. Teresa's, St. James', St. Joseph's, Most Precious Blood and St. Patrick's Old Cathedral—then concluded in solemn joy with Benediction and Eucharistic adoration at Transfiguration.
