Integral to the universal call to holiness then is the call of every person to contemplation, at least in death. Contemplation is not reserved solely for those few called to the "contemplative life," nor is it apart from the usual process whereby God makes each of us holy. Always remaining God's free gift, contemplation is nevertheless the "ordinary" outcome of a full life of grace. "Contemplation is the summit of the Christian life of prayer" for every Christian!
